Taken from the Imberhorne School Website
Imberhorne is officially classed as a Comprehensive Community School (co-educational) with Specialist School status. The age range of our students is from 11 to 19 years. Our school roll totals 1650 including 300 in the Sixth Form.
Although Imberhorne can trace its history back nearly three centuries, it is very much a school for the future.
In 2004 we were awarded Artsmark Silver and Sportsmark for excellence in these areas. Significant investment in Science and ICT provided "state of the art" laboratories and widespread opportunities for interactive learning across the curriculum. We achieved Specialist School status in 1997 which was renewed in 2000 and 2003.
This enables us to:
enhance greatly our provision of modern language opportunities
place greater emphasis on the use of information technology for international communication and supported self-study
increase our provision of work experience and study opportunities in Europe and beyond
further develop our already impressive programme of links with business and industry
enrich our extensive extra-curricular programme
We have a strong commitment to the value of a broad and balanced curriculum, which is flexible and incorporates the principles of personalised learning, allied to a belief in the need for personal responsibility. As well as demanding academic success, we expect students to play a full role as responsible citizens in the school, locally and within the wider community. Imberhorne prides itself on being outward looking and from all year groups we look for and receive:
a commitment to community action
an active participation in artistic, cultural and sporting opportunities
leadership in the many different events and activities each year
support for local and national charities
Our principle aim is to realise the aspirations and develop fully the potential of every student at Imberhorne. We do this by providing a supportive environment, which will stimulate and encourage students to be independent and committed Learners for Life. Whilst we place a high priority on the traditional qualities of hard work, discipline, courtesy and consideration for others, we believe we have embraced the best of modern teaching strategies and resources.
