Crawley Down Village Centre
Welcome to Crawley Down Village Website

Crawley Down Village, together with Copthorne form Worth Parish Council and is situated in the northeast corner of West Sussex close to the borders of Surrey and Kent. Crawley Down is handy for the M23 and only about a ten minute drive from Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges and East Grinstead railway stations.

Until 1967 the village was served by Grange Road railway station on the Three Bridges to Tunbridge Wells Line which was closed as a result of the Beeching Axe. The old track bed has been revitalised as a linear Country Park called the Worth Way which now offers a haven for wildlife and a valued trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The Worth Way extends to Crawley in the West and East Grinstead in the East.

This website is a community project run by the Crawley Down Village Website Association. The Association is funded by a number of local businesses. This funding is then used to provide much needed grants for local Crawley Down organisations. For further information about grants that we have given go to "The Association" page and follow the link you will find there.

This site provides a wealth of information about the village and its surrounding areas. So, if you want to know about the local schools, churches, transportation, amenities, sports facilities and much more, you should find all you need here.

Crawley Down Village Website Grants 2019

Summer over and now we are heading into Autumn and again the Crawley Down Website would like to give some grants to the local community.

At the end of 2019, the Crawley Down website will have been in existence for 14 years. Readers of Crawley Down Village Magazine (formerly “Church and Village”) will recall that when the website was first planned we pledged that we would use monies received from sponsors to donate to "worthy causes" in Crawley Down. During October and November each year we have invited local groups and organisations to make an application for a grant. We have now given grants totalling £22,205, a splendid piece of recycling of other people’s money!

If your organisation or groups could benefit from a small injection of funds this Winter, you can apply for a grant at the end of 2019.

The eligibility criteria are simple - your group must be located in Crawley Down and must be specifically setup for the benefit of some or all of Crawley Down. Your organisation must be run on charitable lines and predominately by volunteers. Previous applicants, whether successful or not may apply again this year.

As in previous years, a small committee will meet in early December to review the applications and decide on the recipients and the amounts to be awarded. The grants panel consists of different people each year. Their decision will then be kept secret until a presentation evening which will be held in January 2020. We will again be making payments by bank transfer and this will mean that your group, if successful, will have the grant in the bank the day following the presentation evening.

If your group would like to apply for a grant from us please phone or email (address and phone at the end). Please complete the form and return it to us at - The Crawley Down Village Website Association, Unit 6, Grange Farm, Turners Hill Road, Crawley Down, RH10 4EY.
We will acknowledge all received applications by email and/or by telephone. Please ensure that your application gets to us by Saturday 30th November - late entries will not be accepted.

If you have not received an acknowledgement of receipt of your application within 7 days of sending it to us, please contact us.

For all queries about your eligibility and applications etc, please by email (admin@crawleydownvillage.co.uk ) or phone 01342 716971.
